Playlist: Maria

Play list justification: We know that the reason that a person would listen to a song would be because they can somehow relate to the song or they like the song.

Hot and Cold ~ Katy Perry!

We believe that the song hot and cold would be a good song for Maria because she so many different personalities and emotions so sometime she  will be really happy and others she will be crying her eyes out. Such as this song because it is about how the person Katy perry is singing about always changes their emotions so they sometimes are happy then the next moment they are sad or angry which is just like Maria. An example from the text is that “See, he agrees with me, “ cried Maria through her tears. The next page after Maria asked that I want to play in a cheerful voice!

Part of Me ~ Katy Perry

The song Part of Me was used due to the fact that basically we envisioned Maria to I guess imagine that now Matt was a part of Maria and it’s a part no one would ever see nor steal. The song also goes into love and which is the feeling Maria and Matt have! Matt is part of Maria and she refuses to let go of him and let go of his love. The people around her try to make her into the person that she is but she wont let them take Matt from her life. They are trying to shape her like clay and choose her life for her that will be best for the people around them. She lets them do this but she wont let them remove Matt from her life. In the book during she refuses to meet her fathers request to not see matt. She goes to see mat and wont let her family take Matt away from her.

We Found Love ~ Rhianna

The song We Found Love was used due to the basic easy point that Rhianna mentions that they found love in a hopeless place which is basically where Maria finds herself. Her groom is chosen, she lives in a world of constraints as well as since Matt is a clone basically loving him is hopeless as no one would allow a relationship let alone a marriage between Maria and Matt. That is how they found love in a hopeless place where no progress can be made as the environment they are in the Opium land does not support the relationship. Matt is clone and really has no hope finding love with a person. Moreover, he is hopeless and him and Maria find their love in a their lives though, he is a clone.

Stereo Love Edward Maya:

“Patience and love can do anything.” That is exactly a quote of what Maria says and is a textual support how Stereo Love works. Stereo Love is all about the effort that Edward Maya makes to try to get to her loved one’s soul and thoughts something Maria wants to do for Matt. Matt supposedly doesn't have a soul as Maria says on page 159, “You don't have a soul.” which then Maria questions that can I get to your soul and thoughts if you are so far away from me all the time. Maria finds her answer. Stereo Love just shows also how Maria feels that her heart is broken every time Matt comes due to the fact she finds out how far apart they really are! n’

Just the way you are ~ Bruno Mars: We believe that the reason that Maria would listen to this song would be because she is one of the only people that loves Matt genuinely even though that he is a clone. She puts his difference’s aside and loves him. An example of this would be in the book during the wedding between Steven and and Emilia and Matt is not invited because he is a clone and Maria feels it is unfair and goes to see him later just so she can spend time with him. She risks her self for Matt and hides just so she see Matt. This proves she will do almost anything for Matt. Another example is When Maria sticks up for Matt  during  the funeral on page 154.

Find Your Love~Drake:

I think this would be on Maria’s play list because i feel it represents and reflects the relationship between Maria and Matt. Maria is always pushing Matt to do things for her and risk himself for her relationship. This is shown when she pushes him to hide with her. Specifically Matt is always trying to do things that will create a better relationship between them. They are both searching, looking and pushing for each others love. On page 156 to 157 they are hiding in Matt’s hiding place and Maria is trying to apologize to him for getting mad at him. She tried to get angry at him

Just a Kiss ~ Lady Antebellum:

This is a perfect song for Maria because when she is Matt between them it is like sparks fly because they are so in love and they are so in love with each other. They kiss and they feel alive and like they never want to stop this is why she would listen to this song. The kiss is forbidden between them but they don’t care they risks them selves for the kiss which is what they do in the song.

Bleeding Love ~ Leona Lewis

The reason we chose Bleeding love is because she really likes Matt, but Matt sometimes is really mean to her and makes her cry and be really sad. Such as when Matt forced her to give him a birthday kiss, or when she thought he killed her dog. I think she would listen to it because she would feel that it relates to her and that it might make her feel better that other people have gone through situations that are similar to hers.

Love you like a love song ~ Selena Gomez

We think that this is a good song for Maria because in the song she says “boy you play threw my mind like a symphony, theirs no way to describe what you do to me”. its safe to say that Maria likes Matt and cant stop thinking about him. That’s why she keeps asking “Have you missed me.” She also wants to catch up with all the events in both lives as by sneaking out risking her image, to go and spend time with Matt inside the secret passage. We see on page 156 she really wants to see him and that she missed him. This shows she cant get Matt out of her mind and she can’t stop thinking about Matt.

How do you sleep ~ Jesse Mccartney

We think that maria would listen to this song because it is about a couple that got separated from each other somehow and are missing each other. It is proven that maria and Matt missed each other because on page 206 when Maria and Matt meet for the second time after Maria had to leave she ran up to him and threw her arms around him asking if he had missed her. He replied with yes and said he thought of her ever day. Also in the lyrics of this song it says “if I had my way I'd come and get ya girl” which is almost perfect to how Matt feels about Maria. and he isn't getting his way because he is a clone and Maria was told she had to marry Tom.

Cast for Scorpion House

Cast for House of the Scorpion:
1. Create a Cast the Novel page on your blog

2. Brainstorm which characters you will include in this initial round of casting
- Maria
- Matt- Tam Lin
Gerrard Butler is the perfect choice for Tam Lin because of the clear reason that he is pretty buff something
like Tam Lin. Looks quite like a bodyguard and has some of the same features as a Scottish person
something he shares with the fictitious character Tam Lin! Tam Lin is supposed to be big, looks a bit
uneducated, Scottish and Butler fits all these aspects. Butler looks like he can be soft and tell people the
truth up front. On pages 80-82 Tam Lin is very up front with the Matt and tells him everything he needs to
know.

- El Patron
We believed that he was the man for the job. We think this because he is old and as we saw in the
godfather he did a good job at being powerful and influential. He looks like he is able to rule and control
and enterprise in the world. "He's a clone!" Senator Mendoza cried. "He's my clone!" suddenly El
Patron wasn't the jovial birthday host anymore. He suddenly seemed Dark and dangerous, Like a
creature you might stumble on in
the middle of the night. (Farmer 108)

- Celia: Susan Feniger
She looks like a chef and also looks a bit like a care taker who cares for a child and believes in hope and
believing. And she is also a chef. Looks very supportive and encouraging. She also looks happy and willing
to risk herself for someone she loves. She looks like she is very nice and kind. On page 6 She has to leave
and Matt becomes sad and then she apologizes and is very kind to him.

- Tom: Tom Felton
We liked this as tom as clearly you can see you can see a bit of an evil nature in him. He has the type
of ginger hair that Tom has in the book. They share the same name and most importantly the smile of
Tom Felton reminds me of a person who deceives others and respects the elders. He acts very nice
and respectful but only puts himself first.Tom also looks a bit confident and wealthy to be part of the
big house. We found the description for Tom's vision on page 44 of the book, where Farmer says, "It
was a boy somewhat older than himself, with bristly red hair and freckles." This vision was clearly
matched with what we clearly see above in Tom Felton!
- Rosa:
We think that she should be Rosa because she looks like a maid and could be very demanding and violent. She looks as though she doesn't even try to fake being nice as she does this in the Book as well. On page 37 Farmer says “She looked tall and strong.” She looks just like Monique and she does look angry and like she would kill someone. Moreover, She seems like she could hate someone who is different.
